Responsible actors navigate. To do so, they try to find their bearings in a changing and often complex reality, to the best of their knowledge and conscience, and to assess as accurately as possible the potential consequences of different courses of action—followed by appropriate (self-)regulation. When this is done consciously with regard to interaction logics, interaction forms, and levels of civility (the civility-theoretical variable space), it can be called civility navigation.
